Autoclicks — Marketing Websites & Onboarding Platform for the Automotive Industry
Autoclicks is a web development and marketing agency built specifically for the automotive industry — car repair shops, dealerships, leasing companies, and other vehicle businesses. Beyond client websites, the agency develops its own products. I contributed to several of their projects, with my work focused on building the websites (in Astro) and developing the backend systems (in Directus) that power them.
The Agency & Its Products
Autoclicks operates as a full-service digital partner for automotive businesses, and also runs its own product line:
- WMH (Workshop Marketing Hub) — the flagship product. A platform that helps independent car workshops get found online and win more bookings. When a workshop signs up, a custom, search-optimized website is automatically generated for their business — complete with their own subdomain, branding, and logo — turning them from invisible into bookable in minutes.
- ADAS Line — a specialist ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibration service operating across 80+ accredited workshops UK-wide. After a windscreen replacement or collision repair, a vehicle’s cameras and sensors must be recalibrated; ADAS Line makes this simple with one enquiry, fixed-fee pricing from £199, OEM-spec calibration by IMI-certified technicians, and a calibration certificate accepted by insurers.
- Agency client work — custom websites and marketing for automotive businesses across the sector.
My Role
My contribution spanned the front-end and back-end of these projects:
- Website development (Astro). Built fast, modern, fully responsive websites — including the main WMH marketing site and a contribution to the ADAS Line build — from custom design systems through to production deployment.
- Backend development (Directus). Developed the headless backend services that power the products: the system behind WMH’s self-service onboarding (which generates a complete website for each new workshop), and the backend for ADAS Line.
What I Built on the WMH Site
- Full brand and content build. Took a generic template and rebuilt it end-to-end into the Autoclicks/WMH brand — custom logo and favicon, a bespoke color and typography system, and copy rewritten across every page to speak directly to workshop owners.
- A multi-step self-service onboarding form. Designed and built an interactive signup wizard that collects a workshop’s details, branding, and logo. It includes real-time validation, a live “is this web address available?” check, automatic logo resizing, progress tracking, and friendly error handling — and connects to the Directus backend, which provisions the new workshop website and emails the owner an activation link.
- Pricing, customer journeys, and structure. Built a tiered pricing system, customer success stories, a help center, a product changelog, a blog, and legal pages — with clean, professional URLs and consistent, responsive design throughout.
- Edge deployment. Configured the site to deploy to Cloudflare’s global network for fast, reliable, low-cost hosting, architected to support future authenticated features such as a customer dashboard.
Tech Stack
- Astro — the modern web framework powering the sites, chosen for its speed and strong performance.
- Directus — the headless backend behind the products: handling onboarding submissions, generating workshop websites, and managing content and data.
- Tailwind CSS — for clean, consistent, fully custom design systems.
- JavaScript — for the interactive onboarding form and live in-browser validation.
- Cloudflare Workers — global edge hosting for fast load times worldwide.
- MDX & Markdown — for easily maintainable blogs, changelogs, and content pages.
Outcome
A polished, fast, fully branded product website with a working self-service onboarding experience — letting non-technical workshop owners get a professional website for their business in minutes — backed by the Directus systems that make it run. You can see more of Autoclicks’ work at autoclicks.io.
